Adjusting Techniques
Adjusting techniques at Cabanas Clinic involve some of the most well-known techniques throughout the Chiropractic industry.
- Gonstead – Clarence Selmer Gonstead was a chiropractor and the creator of the Gonstead technique. He established a large chiropractic facility in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin.
- Diversified – This technique is the most commonly used of all chiropractic techniques and is the one probably most familiar to patients.
- S.O.T. – Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) is a specialized, comprehensive, gentle and innovative technique of Chiropractic founded in 1925 by Dr De Jarnette, It is so named because of the relationship between the sacrum (base of the spine) and the occiput (base of the skull).
- Thompson Drop – Developed originally by Dr. Clay. Thompson and fully patented in 1957, the Thompson Drop Table facilitates a full spine technique by the use of an adjusting table with a pneumatically driven, segmented drop system, which quickly lowers the section of the patient’s body corresponding with the spinal region being adjusted, whether in the dorsal, lumbar or pelvic area.
- Activator – The Activator Method uses a small, hand-held instrument called the Activator Adjusting Instrument to deliver a gentle impulse force to the spine with the goal of restoring motion to the targeted spinal vertebra or joint.
- Flexion Distraction– Flexion Distraction involves using a special table that distracts and flexes the spine in an automated and gentle rythmic motion. The Chiropractic Doctor will use some manual techniques with the table to resolve the disc herniation or bulge. The goal is to allow the spine to move correctly in a manner that will remove pressure from the disc bulg
